Taoyuan International Airport Corp., the administrator of Taiwan’s main aviation hub, Taipei Taoyuan, said this week that completion of the airport’s third runway has been pushed back from 2030 to 2032. Read More » Pi Chin-ling, assistant vice president of the airport operator, said during the press conference at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, that the relocation of residents from the site reserved for the new runway has been postponed until the end of 2026, delaying construction, which is expected to take at least six years. The planned third runway, located north of the airport’s existing site, began the first phase of construction in September 2023. Pi said the airport decided to plan 16 temporary overnight aprons, used mainly by domestic carriers, to reduce the impact of the construction. Nine of the aprons have been in operation since July, while the remaining seven are expected to be completed before the Lunar New Year’s holiday in February 2026, she said.
