December 2nd 2025
Airbus said there were less than 100 A320 family aircraft yet to have an emergency software update following the discovery of a potential safety issue. Read More » The airframer late last week issued an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) after intense solar radiation was found to have the potential to corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls on the A320. Airlines were forced to cancel hundreds of flights and ground scores of aircraft to undertake the software fix. "Out of a total number of around 6,000 aircraft potentially impacted, the vast majority have now received the necessary modifications," Airbus said yesterday (December 1). "We are working with our airline customers to support the modification of less than 100 remaining aircraft to ensure they can be returned to service. Airbus apologises for any challenges and delays caused to passengers and airlines by this event. The company thanks its customers, the authorities, its employees and all relevant stakeholders involved for their support in implementing these measures, and for their understanding of Airbus’ decision to put safety above all other considerations."
