Air India reported to expect record annual loss

Read More » According to people familiar with the matter, India’s national carrier is on track to post a loss of at least 150 billion rupees ($1.6 billion) for the year ending March 31. Earnings were further negatively affected by Pakistan’s closure of its airspace for Indian airlines following a military clash with India, forcing carriers to fly longer routes at higher costs to Europe and the US. Before the June 2025 deadly crash, Air India reportedly had been edging back toward profitability. The airline’s founders, Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), had targeted operational break-even this year, but profitability is now out of reach, the sources told Bloomberg.
