Qantas ahead of Virgin Australia and Jetstar for punctuality in December

December 2025 on-time arrivals on domestic services in Australia averaged 73.8%, the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics announced. Read More » On-time departures averaged at 74.5%. This month’s on-time arrivals figure was lower than the long term average performance for all routes (80.5%), and the on-time departures figure was also lower than the long-term average (81.6%). Among the three biggest carriers, the Qantas network (Qantas and QantasLink combined operations) recorded 76.2% for on-time arrivals, the Virgin Australia (VA) network (Virgin Australia and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines combined operations) recorded 73.4%, while Jetstar 68.3%. Among the other regional operators, Hinterland was best at 85.3%, followed by Rex Airlines at 72.4% and SmartLynx Australia at 69.0%. Qantas was the most punctual among the major carriers for on-time departures at 77.3%, ahead of VA at 74.3% and Jetstar at 66.2%. QantasLink recorded the highest percentage of cancellations at 3.0% during the month, followed by Rex Airlines at 2.3%, Jetstar at 1.9%, SmartLynx Australia at 1.8%, Hinterland at 1.7%, Qantas at 1.4%, Virgin Australia at 0.9%, and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 0.0%.
