Tigerair Taiwan introduces measures to protect its frontline staff's privacy protection

In response to the rise of social media, which has led many passengers to record their flights, and to balance service identification with frontline staff privacy, Tigerair Taiwan announced that, starting February 1, 2026, frontline staff can choose to apply for a new version of their work ID or name tag. The LCC explained that by adjusting how information is presented, the company avoids excessive disclosure of full names, allowing staff to focus on passenger service and flight safety procedures in a safer environment. The China Airlines (CAL) Group carrier also reminded travelers to refrain from pointing their camera at other passengers or on-duty staff without their consent when recording the flight. The limitation is introduced to protect the flight experience and portrait rights of every passenger, and to respect the privacy of frontline employees. The introduction of staff privacy protection is the latest measure designed to improve employees’ workplace environment. Effective January 1, 2026, cabin crew members are authorized to wear glasses while on duty. This measure aims to reduce the discomfort of cabin crew members who wear contact lenses for extended periods in the relatively dry cabin environment, enabling them to perform their duties in the best possible condition, the LCC said.
As part of its expansion plans, Tigerair Taiwan is expanding its employee base. Earlier in January, the LCC recruited its first batch of cabin crew members for this year. The airline is currently recruiting pilots, operations staff, and other office staff. During the board meeting on January 23, 2026, Tigerair Taiwan approved annual performance bonuses averaging 10.6 months' salary, and a 5.3% average salary increase for each employee in 2026.
