China Southern Airlines to achieve return to profitability for 2025

China Southern Airlines (CSA) has signalled it returned to profitability last year, ending a series of five consecutive annual losses which began in 2020. Read More » The Guangzhou-headquartered carrier said net profit for calendar 2025 was tipped to be within 800 million yuan and 1 billion yuan (US$115 million and US$144 million). This represented an improvement of up to 2.6 billion yuan from the net loss of 1.7 billion yuan CSA recorded in 2024. "The company has taken proactive measures, seized market opportunities, precisely allocated capacity, optimised the layout of passenger and cargo operations, strengthened lean cost control, and focused on improving quality and efficiency," CSA said in a regulatory filing. "As a result, its operating performance has continued to improve."
