Airlines scramble to rewrite schedules after U.S. and Israel attack Iran

Airlines have cancelled scores of flights through and to the Middle East following the Israel and U.S. led attack on Iran over the weekend. Read More » Aircraft movements at airports in Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai, among other cities, are severely restricted due to the closure of Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates air spaces. Examples the Asia-Pacific include Malaysia Airlines flights from Kuala Lumpur to Doha and Jeddah turning back midway through their journeys after the bombings started. The oneworld alliance member has cancelled all flights to Doha in Qatar, as well as to Jeddah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia until March 4. Cathay Pacific has shut down its schedules to the Middle East and Singapore Airlines has cancelled its services to Dubai until March 7 "due to the geopolitical situation" in the region. "As the situation remains fluid, other SIA flights may be affected," SIA said. There also have been flight suspensions on routes beyond the Middle East, with Air India cancelling flights to destinations in Europe and North America. "Close monitoring and careful assessment of the evolving situation in the Middle East have necessitated further curtailment of our scheduled operations, with the safety and security of our customers and crew remaining the highest priority," Air India said.
