Scheduled passenger capacity into and out of Hong Kong is expected to increase by 10% in the second quarter of this year, the Bloomberg news agency reported, citing analysis by Bloomberg Intelligence. Read More » The lift in passenger capacity will be underpinned by more seats on routes to Mainland China and South Korea, while capacity for Japan was flat. The Singapore and Thailand markets were experiencing softness, the report said. Airlines such Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have reported strong passenger growth for March as the closure of hubs in the Gulf region has led to passengers seeking alternative ways to reach Europe from Asia and Australia. Cathay and SIA passenger numbers rose 24.5% and 14.9%, respectively, year-on-year in March.
