JAL posts 28.6% growth in annual profit

JAL Group has reported net profit of 137.6 billion yen (US$878 million) for the 12 months to March 31 2026, close to 30% higher than net profit of 107 billion yen in the prior financial year. Read More » Revenue rose 9.1% to 2 trillion yen, the parent company of Japan Airlines, Spring Japan and ZIPAIR said in a regulatory filing. The company said the financial results were underpinned by strong international passenger demand and flexible revenue management to attract passengers in the domestic market at its full-service carrier, Japan Airlines, while its LCCs experienced strong growth despite a temporary slowdown in inbound demand. Looking ahead, the company has maintained its previous forecast net profit of 110 billion yen for the current fiscal year ending on March 31 2027. "The global situation has become increasingly uncertain, including a rapid rise in crude oil prices caused by the tense situation in the Middle East," JAL Group said. "Constant vigilance regarding political and economic developments remains essential in this business environment. Despite these severe circumstances, stabilization of the performance of both aviation and non-aviation businesses will be ensured."
