Read More » The new five times weekly Singapore-Barcelona-Madrid service will take off from October 26 with three-class A350-900s featuring 42 business, 24 premium economy and 187 economy seats. The route has been scheduled as a late evening departure service from Singapore and lunchtime departure from Madrid. SIA last served Madrid more than two decades ago. In addition to the launch of the Madrid, which will be SIA’s 15th destination in Europe, the Star Alliance member is also increasing services to a number of destinations on the continent. This includes lifting Manchester to daily from July, up from five times a week currently, adding three more flights to Munich to operate alongside its existing daily service and boosting its service to London Gatwick to double daily, from 10 times a week currently, in October. "Europe is an important market for Singapore Airlines, and these adjustments reflect our commitment to it," SIA senior vice president for marketing planning, Dai Haoyu, said. "We are seeing strong demand for travel to Europe, and increasing frequencies to key destinations such as Manchester, Milan, Munich, and London Gatwick in response."
