Qantas led domestic on-time performance in Australia in April

Qantas was the most punctual major airline in Australia in April, with 85.8% of its domestic flights arriving and departing on time, according to the data published by Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE). Read More » It was the flag carrier’s best April on-time performance in nine years, the Australian Aviation reported. Virgin Australia recorded 83.4% on both arrivals and departures. Hinterland achieved the highest on-time arrivals at 92.1% and departures at 95.7%. For April 2026, on-time performance over all routes operated by participating airlines (Hinterland, Jetstar, Qantas, QantasLink, Rex Airlines, Skytrans Australia (formerly SmartLynx Australia), Virgin Australia, and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines) averaged 82.9% for on-time arrivals and 82.6% for on-time departures. The cancellation rate for the month was 1.9%. The equivalent figures for April 2025 were 82.4% for on-time arrivals, 82.2% for on-time departures, and 2.0% for cancellations, BITRE said.
