Cathay Pacific has partnered with Cigna Healthcare, Chubb and Zurich Insurance to offer its frequent flyer members the opportunity to earn Asia Miles when purchasing travel, health, home, motor and personal accident insurance coverage.

Software platform, OneReg, has raised NZ$7.5 million (US$4 million) through a funding round led by Altered Capital, Co:Act Capital and strategic investors. The funding found follows Air New Zealand (Air NZ) purchasing a 5% stake in the company in February. Air NZ is also a customer of the OneReg - founded in N.Z. - with its operational and safety units users of the platform to manage documentation on policies, processes and procedures.

Japan Airlines’ (JAL) corporate venture capital fund has invested in quantum computing company, A*Quantum. The pair has been working together on an automated optimisation tool for aircraft maintenance operation planning since July 2023, with the deployment of the tool commencing in March this year. The terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Karratha Airport, about 670nm north of Perth in Western Australia, has been designated as a Restricted Use International Airport and Alternate International Airport, the City of Karratha council, which operates the facility, said. "While there is still a lot of work ahead to realise regular international services, this designation demonstrates strong momentum and confidence in Karratha’s future," City of Karratha mayor, Daniel Scott, said.
