Vietjet charts fleet growth plans at Thailand affiliate

Vietjet said it aims to grow the fleet at its Vietjet Thailand affiliate to 50 737 MAX 8 aircraft to meet the growing demand for air travel in the region. Read More » Vietjet Thailand currently has nine 737 MAX 8 narrowbodies in the fleet - with a 10th due to arrive soon - alongside seven active A320 family aircraft, flight tracking websites showed. "From its current fleet of 22 aircraft, the airline aims to expand to 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft in the coming years," Vietjet said of its Vietjet Thailand fleet plans. Vietjet recently celebrated reaching 50 million passengers flown on its Vietnam-Thailand network, which comprises about 1,000 flights a week between 16 destinations in Vietnam and 11 destinations in Thailand. "Vietjet will continue working alongside Vietnam, Thailand, and the wider region to build a more modern, sustainable, and inclusive connectivity network, creating new opportunities for people, businesses, and economies alike," Vietjet Group chair, Nguyen Phuong Thao, said.
