KLIA passenger numbers up double digits so far in 2026

More broadly, passenger numbers across Malaysia Airports’ portfolio of airports in the country rose 7.4% to 35.5 million through the first four months of 2026, compared with the prior corresponding period. Malaysia Airports managing director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, highlighted the pleasing performance of the recently expanded Kota Bharu airport (KBR) in northeastern part of West Malaysia, where passenger numbers were 3.9% higher at 562,081 in the January-to-April period. "The network’s continued growth reflects the strength of our long-term strategy, driven by key infrastructure developments such as the expansion of KBR, stronger airline connectivity, and continuous service enhancements across our airports," Dato’ Izani said.
