The sale became effective on June 23, 2026, after receiving final approval from Cargolux’s board of directors. China Airlines’ board had previously authorized the transaction in November 2025, with both parties subsequently completing the agreement. The transaction was negotiated directly between the parties and priced based on prevailing market conditions, CAL said. “The disposal continues China Airlines’ transition toward a newer and more fuel-efficient cargo fleet as global freight operators increasingly retire older-generation freighters in favor of modern aircraft with lower operating costs and improved environmental performance,” it added.
