Asia-Pacific international passengers decline 1.1% in May

Read More » Despite the year-on-year decline, passenger numbers for the first five months of this year were up 3.9% from the corresponding period in 2025 at 166.8 million, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. "Overall, operating conditions for carriers remain challenging," AAPA director general, Wong Hong, said. "Nonetheless, Asia Pacific carriers have responded well to evolving demand patterns and remain agile in adjusting their networks and capacity deployment to capture growth opportunities while maintaining strict cost discipline." Capacity, or available seat kilometres, on Asia-Pacific carriers’ international routes was 0.3% higher in May, and demand, measured by revenue passenger kilometres, rose 1.8%. Passenger load factor increased 1.2 percentage points to 82%, the airline lobby group said.
