China Airlines has launched a collaboration with Takenoya izakaya restaurant in Fukuoka Japan and Marufuku Coffee cafe in Osaka for its meal service on select flights between Taiwan and Japan. Takenoya-inspired dishes on flights from Fukeok to Taipei Taoyuan and Kaohsiung include grilled eel, as well as grilled chicken thighs and meatballs. Meanwhile, on routes to Osaka, Marufuku Coffee has created dishes such as Japanese omelette and caramelised pudding.
Korean Air (KAL) has raised 190 billion won (US$124 million) in fresh capital through the issuance of Japanese yen-denominated bonds. The airline said the successful issuance of what is described in South Korea as Samurai-bonds, amid ongoing external uncertainties such as high oil prices and exchange rates confirmed the trust investors had in KAL’s stable business and future growth potential.
Airport technology company, SITA, has supported the rollout of facial recognition technology, known as Fast Pass, for passenger facilitation - such as checkin, bag drop, security clearance and boarding - at Doha airport in partnership with Qatar Airways.
