Western Sydney International welcomes first trial freighter flights

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) has welcomed its first freighter aircraft for trial flights ahead for the facility’s formal opening on July 26. Read More » The trial flights, operated by a Qantas Group A321F freighter, are expected to continue for the next two weeks to test WSI’s operational readiness. "These trials are an integral part of ensuring that our systems, infrastructure and staff have been put through their paces in a live and controlled operating environment," WSI CEO, Simon Hickey, said. "Today’s flight will be followed by further trials over the following fortnight as we make our final preparations for commercial freight services." The start of cargo operations on July 26 will be followed by passenger flights in October.
