American Airlines, Starlux seek U.S. regulatory approval to codeshare

American Airlines and Taiwan-based Starlux have applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to codeshare on each other’s flights between the U.S. and Taiwan, as well as onward services beyond the two carriers’ hubs. Read More » As part of the agreement, American will place its AA airline code on Starlux-operated flights between Taipei Taoyuan and Los Angeles, Ontario (California), Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Tokyo Narita. Similarly, Starlux will place its JX airline code on American-operated flights from Phoenix to 18 destinations in the U.S. and from Los Angeles to 10 domestic cities. "The joint applicants’ codeshare arrangement will enable each carrier to offer convenient additional services between the United States and Taiwan and beyond," the pair said in its application to the DOT. "This will enhance competition, as well as the transborder service options available to consumers."
