Jetstar Airways conducts trial flight at new Sydney airport ahead of October start

Jetstar Airways flew an A320neo into and out of Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) yesterday (September 1) as part of preparations for the start of its commercial flights to the new airport next month. Read More » The trial flight, JQ7990, operated by A320neo registration VH-A5C, touched down at Western Sydney International at about 0915 local time after a one-hour journey from Melbourne Tullamarine. The aircraft was on the ground for about six hours before flying back to Melbourne as the JQ7991. "We’re doing this eight weeks out from the first flight deliberately," Jetstar chief pilot, Tyrone Simes, said. "It gives us time to take what we learned today and build it into our procedures and crew briefings, ensuring everything is fully tested and refined well ahead of launch." The Qantas Group LCC is scheduled to start flying from the airport on Sunday 25 October.
