Air Canada to add third destination in Mainland China

Read More » The route, one of five new destinations announced late last week, will be served three times a week as an overnight service from Vancouver and morning departure from Guangzhou with three-class 787-9 aircraft. Air Canada currently flies to Beijing and Shanghai in Mainland China. "As Canada’s flag carrier, we are further investing to better connect and position our country as an important intersection of major international demand flows under our new frontiers strategy," Air Canada chief commercial officer and president for cargo, Mark Galardo, said. "From the expansive trade hub in the Pearl River Delta to the relaxing Adriatic coastline, each of our five new destinations and many schedule enhancements support commerce and tourism and create exciting new opportunities for people to explore the world." The Star Alliance member will be the second airline flying nonstop between Guangzhou and Canada alongside existing service from China Southern Airlines, which flies to both Toronto and Vancouver from its Guangzhou hub.
In other Air Canada scheduling news, the airline is increasing its schedule on Toronto-Shanghai Pudong to daily, from four times weekly currently, from the end of March next year, while Vancouver-Brisbane will be served daily, up from six times weekly, starting in May 2027.
