Asian airports dominate OAG’s top 20 Megahubs 2026 list

Asian hubs continue to dominate OAG’s Global Top 20 Megahubs list, the ranking’s authors said. Read More » Overall, eight regional hubs occupy the top 20 list, with Kuala Lumpur at 4th, Seoul Incheon at 6th, and Tokyo Haneda at 8th place. Among the Asian Megahubs in the Top 20 globally, Tokyo Haneda improved from 9th to 8th, Shanghai Pudong from 19th to 14th, Guangzhou from 36th to 19th, and Hong Kong moved back into the Top 20, from 22nd to 20th. “These three Chinese airports demonstrate that the Chinese Megahubs appear to have finally shaken off the residual effects of the pandemic in 2020,” OAG commented.
In the Top 25 Low-Cost Megahub list, 16 airports are in Asia Pacific (64%). OAG said LCCs dominate capacity across Southeast Asia, accounting for 51% of all seats, significantly higher than the global average of 34%.
Megahubs 2026 ranks the connectivity of the world’s leading international airport hubs – globally and regionally – as well as gateways into domestic markets. The rankings are generated by comparing the number of scheduled connections to and from international flights with the number of destinations served from the airport, on the busiest day of the year.
