Air India preview new digital platform for IFE

Air India is planning a revamp of its inflight entertainment system to include additional digital features and connectivity from 2028. Read More » The "Vista Digital Platform", which is still in development by the airline’s in-house designers and software engineers, aims to offer consistent experience across the fleet, work alongside Air India’s mobile app and website, remember what passengers watched on their last flight so they can pick up where they left off on their next flight and offer e-commerce services. The Star Alliance member said the platform will be progressively deployed on select new aircraft deliveries starting in 2028 ahead of a broader rollout across the fleet. "The adoption of open-source operating systems by in-flight entertainment hardware vendors, the deployment of satellite broadband connectivity on aircraft and modern AI technologies create a unique ‘app store launch moment’ for reimagining the airline cabin experience," Air India chief digital and technology officer, Dr Satya Ramaswamy, said. "We are one of the few pioneering airlines of the world to create a connected software platform in-house that powers personalised entertainment and commerce experiences for guests. With this advancement, the inflight entertainment system has the potential to become the most important screen our guests interact with, joining Air India’s award-winning mobile app and website as one of our core digital consumer platforms."
