Read More » The rate of on-time arrivals was also up from 83.1% in July. "August was a good step forward after a challenging July, and our team has done a great job strengthening our performance," Air NZ chief operations officer for ground and in-flight, Kate Boyer, said. "It’s encouraging to see that showing up in better results across the network." The Star Alliance member said its rate of mishandled bags - which involve lost, delayed or damaged checkin luggage - was 2.77 bags per 1,000 bags in 2025-26, 43% below the global average of 4.9 per 1,000 bags. Boyer said improving the traceability and scanning of checkin luggage throughout the journey was a key feature of keeping the rate of mishandled bags low alongside the work of the baggage handling teams. "Technology gives us better visibility and helps our teams work smarter, but ultimately this performance comes down to our people taking ownership at every stage of the journey," Boyer said.
