Malaysia Airports’ portfolio of Malaysian airports posts 7.7% decline in passengers for August

Passenger numbers at Malaysia Airports’ network of airports in Malaysia fell 7.7% to 8.4 million in August, from 9.1 million in the same month in 2025. Read More » Despite the year-on-year decline, Malaysia Airports said the August figure was the highest monthly total since March and up 5.2% compared with July. The number of domestic passengers rose 6.7% from July to 3.7 million, while the number of international passengers increased by 4.1% month-on-month to 4.7 million. "The broader increase across domestic and international travel shows that passenger activity strengthened across the network in August," Malaysia Airports group managing director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said. "The continued expansion of airline connectivity and KLIA’s standing among the world’s leading Megahubs reinforce Malaysia’s role as an important regional aviation gateway."
