Australia’s domestic passenger traffic slips 0.3% in July

Passenger load factor fell 0.2 of a percentage point to 83.2%. Despite the decline in July, domestic passenger numbers were up 1.8% through the first seven months of 2026 at 60.7 million. Australia’s busiest domestic route - Melbourne-Sydney - recorded a 2.4% decrease in passenger numbers to 665,400 for the reported 31 days. The number of seats on the route was down 3.6% compared with a year ago. As a consequence, passenger load factor jumped 1.1 percentage points to 84.5%.
