October 23rd 2026
Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced it is enhancing its in-flight entertainment experience with next-generation KrisWorld and high-speed connectivity. Read More » SIA will introduce the new IFE on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft, which will enter service progressively from 2027, as well as on its upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft. Starlink will be introduced progressively from early 2027 on SIA’s Airbus A380, A350-900 long-haul, and A350-900ULR aircraft.
First Class cabins will feature 32-inch 4K high-resolution touchscreens, while Business Class customers will enjoy displays of up to 22 inches. On the Boeing 777-9s, Premium Economy Class cabins will have 4K high-resolution touchscreens of up to 16 inches, while Economy Class screens will be up to 13 inches. SIA said OLED displays will also be available on selected aircraft, adding that the enhanced displays deliver sharper detail, higher contrast, and improved picture quality, helping customers enjoy movies, television shows, and other content with greater clarity and viewing comfort.
The Star Alliance member carrier promises improved IFE audio quality. “Spatial audio technology adds greater depth, clarity, and presence to the listening experience, creating a more immersive three-dimensional soundscape. As a result, action sequences can feel more dynamic, concerts more atmospheric, and dialogue clearer,” SIA noted. First Class passengers will receive Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth wireless headphones with active noise cancellation. Business Class and Premium Economy passengers will receive active noise-cancellation headphones, and Economy Class passengers will receive wired earphones. Passengers who bring their own compatible Bluetooth headphones can connect them to KrisWorld.
Singaporean flag carrier redesigned the KrisWorld user interface, introducing clearer menus, larger icons, and improved search and filter functions to help passengers find content more quickly and easily. “A new mini-player allows customers to continue watching a video in a smaller window while browsing other content on KrisWorld. Customers can also create shortcuts to preferred media categories. A sidebar will display real-time flight information, such as the time to destination and weather conditions, without interrupting the viewing experience,” SIA said. Kid’s Mode will use a simplified interface, including an age-appropriate environment with a curated selection of children’s movies, television shows, and music for young travelers.
The airline says it will offer passengers a wide choice of content, refreshed monthly. “Customers may choose from more than 2,500 entertainment options, including the latest Hollywood titles, award-winning international cinema, regional favorites, full-season television box sets, music, and podcasts. This includes content from Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI, and Paramount+. Real-time news and sports will be available through the BBC News and Sport 24 live television channels,” says SIA, adding that offerings span a wide range of languages and genres.
With the latest changes, Singapore Airlines aims to let passengers save their preferences beyond a single flight. On the retrofitted A350-900 long-haul, A350-900ULR, and Boeing 777-9 aircraft, First Class and Business Class passengers can save their preferred seat positions for dining, relaxing, and sleeping and apply them on future flights. First Class passengers can also save their personal lighting preferences, allowing them to recreate their desired environment on subsequent journeys. Passengers can log in to KrisWorld with their KrisFlyer account to receive tailored recommendations, resume programs from where they left off on a previous flight, and save favorite titles for future journeys. They can also view connecting flight information, including the gate and terminal, for their onward SIA flights departing from Singapore.
Another addition to the next-generation IFE is a new wellness planner with content including sleep and meditation tracks, videos featuring breathing exercises and light in-seat stretches, and articles on healthy living. It will also recommend seat positions and lighting in First Class and Business Class, as well as beverage suggestions across cabin classes, to support greater comfort on long-haul journeys.
The next generation KrisWorld experience will be complemented by high-speed connectivity on Starlink-enabled aircraft. In-seat charging options will include USB-C ports on the Boeing 777-9 aircraft and retrofitted A350-900 long-haul and ULR cabins, as well as wireless charging pads for passengers in First Class and Business Class.
“Our customers told us that they wanted more choice and flexibility in how they spend their time on board, as well as entertainment and connectivity that fit more naturally into their journey. This guided the development of SIA’s next-generation KrisWorld and connectivity offering, which makes it easier to discover and enjoy content, stay in touch with loved ones, and move seamlessly between entertainment and other activities during the flight,” Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience, Singapore Airlines, said.
Singapore Airlines highlighted that the enhanced KrisWorld and high-speed connectivity form part of SIA’s elevated end-to-end travel experience, alongside the Airline’s next-generation long-haul cabin products, refreshed dining options, new amenities across all cabin classes, and enhanced on-ground services. The new travel experience will be unveiled in Singapore in November 2026.
