Qantas Group increases domestic wide-body flying; adds routes to Australia network

Qantas Group has increased its wide-body flights from Australia's east coast capital cities to Perth and Darwin and launched seven routes as a result of strong demand for domestic travel. Read More » The oneworld alliance member said its 787-9s – usually flow on international services – would fly up to nine return flights a week on the Perth-Sydney route and additional A330-200s would operate from Darwin to Brisbane and Sydney and from Perth to Melbourne and Sydney. “We know how popular the 787s and A330s are with our customers on our international network. We think there will be huge demand for the domestic flights these aircraft will operate, particularly frequent flyers looking to use points," Qantas domestic and international CEO, Andrew David, said. The seven new routes bring to 45 the number of new city pairs Qantas and its LCC, Jetstar, have added to their combined domestic network since the onset of the pandemic.
