AirAsia X returning to South Korea’s Busan

AirAsia X (AAX) will add a second nonstop service between Malaysia and South Korea with flights from Kuala Lumpur to Busan to start in early 2023. Read More » A specific launch date was not revealed, but AAX said it will be a three times a week rotation. Recently, the LCC recommenced nonstop to Seoul Incheon from its Kuala Lumpur hub. AAX CEO, Benyamin Ismail, said the airline carried about 200,000 passengers to and from Busan when it last served South Korea’s second city, in 2019, and he believes there will be strong demand on the route. “Starting with three a week services and based on strong forecast demand, we expect frequency to Busan to return to daily by year-end [2023],” Ismail said. AAX and Busan Tourism Organisation (BTO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding support the route and tourism.
