Air New Zealand lifts curtain on new 787 cabin products

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has unveiled its first retrofitted 787-9, registration ZK-NZH. Read More » The aircraft has new business and premium economy seats and is equipped with 4K high definition screens, blue tooth audio connectivity and the option for all passengers to use their smartphones as remote controls. The aircraft is scheduled to enter service on May 19, flying Auckland to Brisbane, followed by its first long-haul flight between Auckland and San Francisco later the same day. Air NZ plans to have seven 787-9s retrofitted by December with all 14 of the type in its fleet upgraded by year-end 2026. The retrofitted aircraft mostly will fly between Auckland and Brisbane, San Francisco, Rarotonga and Vancouver, the Star Alliance member said. “This is the first full nose-to-tail retrofit of a 787-9 Dreamliner and marks the introduction of our first new onboard product in more than 15 years,” Air NZ CEO, Greg Foran, said. “We have completely reimagined the experience of flying with Air New Zealand, incorporating elegant design elements, innovative Kiwi touches and features informed by feedback from thousands of customers.”
