Air New Zealand (Air NZ) is trialling internet connectivity delivered via wi-fi on two aircraft used on domestic routes. Read More » The first aircraft, A320 registration ZK-OXE, began offering internet connectivity to passengers yesterday (June 10), with an ATR turboprop to join the trial later this month. The Star Alliance member said it was using Starlink low earth orbit satellites for its internet service on the two aircraft. “We look forward to hearing from our customers as they test out onboard wi-fi. Their feedback will help guide our decision-making as we consider connectivity options for our domestic fleet,” Air NZ chief digital officer, Nikhil Ravishankar, said. “Being the first airline in the world to trial wi-fi on a turboprop aircraft is a proud moment for us. Our goal is to explore the potential of this technology and understand how it can enhance customer journeys.” Air NZ already offers internet connectivity on the bulk of its international fleet.
