Air New Zealand to boost long-haul capacity

Read More » Capacity will be expanded by 8% to Canada and the U.S. compared with the previous corresponding six months, the flag carrier said. The Star Alliance member will offer more premium seats to Asia and North America as its 787s, retrofitted with a higher proportion of premium economy and business seats, return to service. “Customers want a more comfortable and seamless experience. We are responding by increasing premium availability and flight frequencies across our long-haul network,” Air NZ chief commercial officer, Jeremy O’Brien, said. In other Air NZ news, the airline has signed an agreement with Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport to serve Sydney’s second airport from Auckland. The new route will complement the airline’s existing flights to Sydney Kingsford Smith airport. “The planned start of service in mid-2027 is subject to aircraft availability with more details to be confirmed closer to the launch,” Air NZ said.
