Qantas Group’s first A321XLR joins fleet

Read More » The narrow-body, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, flew from the Airbus Hamburg Finkenwerder facility to Sydney via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. The Hamburg to Bangkok leg was the longest A321XLR flight operated by a commercial airline with the route measuring 4,782nm, reports Great Circle Mapper. It added the distance flown may differ as a result of airspace closures along the way. Qantas has trained 1,000 cabin crew, engineers, ground staff and pilots to fly and service the single aisles. It said the A321XLR’s range opened route opportunities for the airline. "We are proud to be the first A321XLR operator in the Asia-Pacific. Its arrival will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Qantas and a significant step forward in enhancing the experience we offer our customers," Qantas domestic CEO, Markus Svensson, said. The aircraft are configured with 20 business and 177 economy seats.
