Airbus concludes deal to expand A321 production in China

Read More » In the next 50 days AVIC XAT will conduct incoming inspection, isolation, and bracket installation as well as testing and installation of the electricals, drainage, oxygen supply, flight control and hydraulic systems of the single aisle. Equipping of A321 fuselage systems is scheduled for completion in October before delivery to the Airbus Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Tianjin, Airbus said. "This newly launched A321 fuselage equipping project advances our partnership on single aisle aircraft and demonstrates the Airbus commitment to localization," Airbus China executive vice president and CEO, George Xu, said. Airbus forecasts China will require more than 9,500 new passenger and freighter jets in the next two decades, accounting for at least 20% of global demand. The European OEM is upgrading its Tianjin facilities and building a second A320 family FAL at the aerospace complex. When the second FAL opens in early 2026, Tianjin will be home to two of ten global single aisle Airbus FALs. "China’s supply chain is indispensable to global aviation, proving highly resilient and competitive," Xu said.
