Business and restricted economy fares offering best prices for domestic travellers

Read More » Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics’ (BITRE) monthly report said restricted economy fares declined 40.6% (38.1 index points) to 55.7 points and the business class measure was 18% lower at 52.4 points. Potential travellers searching for the cheapest air tickets were likely disappointed as the best discount fare category rose 2.5 index points (4.3%) to 61.2 points. "The series is a price index of the lowest available fare in each fare class weighted over selected routes," BITRE said. "It does not measure real airline yields or average fares paid by passengers."
