Plans to ensure seamless transitions between Terminals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be expedited to more easily connect passengers between the two buildings, Malaysia’s transport minister, Anthony Loke, told reporters after chairing the National Aviation Consultative Council (NACC) meeting on August 26. Read More » Loke is asking Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to introduce airside connectivity passenger bus services and baggage transfers. “We want these airlines not to focus solely on competition. We are not looking at a zero-sum game, but at the national interest and how to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a key regional aviation hub. I hope this can be achieved next year as our requests do not require significant additional infrastructure, but rather system enhancements without large scale construction,” Loke said. It is agreed within the industry that the lack of airside connections between the two KLIA terminals are competitive disadvantages for Malaysia Airports compared with its rivals particularly Singapore Changi airport.
