IndiGo has become the first airline to fly nonstop between Mainland China and India in five years. Read More » The LCC’s flight 6E 1703, operated by A320neo registration VT-IQA, touched down in Guangzhou just before 0400 local time yesterday (October 27), about three hours after taking off from Kolkata. The aircraft was on the ground for about 90 minutes before operating the reciprocal 6E 1704 back to Kolkata. Flights between the two countries were suspended in 2020 amid rising geopolitical tensions. "We are excited to be the first Indian carrier to resume our daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, reinstating one of the most important air links between India and China," IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers, said. "Guangzhou, as a major commercial hub, offers immense opportunities for Indian businesses, exporters, and professionals. At the same time, it opens doors for Chinese travellers and investors to explore the rich culture and growing markets of India." Next month, IndiGo is starting Delhi-Guangzhou nonstop flights and China Eastern Airlines is launching service between Shanghai Pudong and Delhi.
