Air NZ reports 4.4% capacity growth for October

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) said it grew capacity 4.4% in October as new aircraft deliveries helped boost the airline’s short-haul operations. Read More » The Star Alliance member said its short-haul international network, representing flights between New Zealand and Australia and the Pacific Islands, grew capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), 17% in October. "Short-haul growth was driven by the arrival of two new A321 aircraft," Air NZ said in a regulatory filing. The growth in short-haul international flying helped offset the declines in long-haul and domestic ASKs of 0.1% and 1.5%, respectively. Overall passenger numbers were up 0.8% at 1.26 million for the 31 days, from 1.25 million in the same month in 2024. The passenger load factor fell nine-tenths of a percentage point to 84.4%.
