Thai AirAsia net profit falls by a third in 2025

Asia Aviation Plc (AAV), the parent company of LCC Thai Airasia, has reported net profit of 2.3 billion baht (US$75 million) for calendar 2025, down 32.8% from 3.5 billion baht in 2024. The financial performance of the company was impacted by the contraction of Mainland China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) markets. "2025 was an extremely challenging year due to external factors, particularly the slowdown in the overall Chinese market," AAV and Thai AirAsia CEO, Phairat Pornpathananangoon, said. "However, the airline adjusted its strategy to focus on domestic market leadership, achieving a record high market share of 41%." Phairat said the tourism industry was expected to recover during 2026. "We are targeting high-single-digit revenue growth from sales and services and passenger traffic of 23.5 million, supported by our strategy to expand the fleet by an additional five aircraft in the second half of the year," Phairat said. TAA carried 21 million passengers in 2025.
