AirAsia X reports "no significant signs of demand disruption"
April 13th 2026
AirAsia X’s (AAX) six operating airlines flew a combined 18.9 million passengers in the three months to March 31 2026, up 9% from 17.2 million in the same three months in 2025. Read More » The 18.9 million figure represents passengers on AirAsia-branded airlines in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, as well as Malaysia-based AirAsia X. Passenger numbers for the company’s Thai AirAsia X (TAAX) operation, which were reported separately, rose 20% to 599,198. AAX said the lift in passenger numbers was underpinned by strong domestic demand, as well as the ongoing popularity of major international routes to Mainland China from Malaysia and Thailand. "Crucially, we have seen no significant signs of demand disruption," AAX group CEO, Bo Lingam, said. "Our priority is to maximise the productivity of our active fleet while keeping our integrated network lean and adaptable. By prioritising high-yield corridors and maintaining disciplined cost management, we are prepared to navigate the uncertainties of the months ahead with resilience and agility." The report was AAX’s first set of operating statistics since it acquired the AirAsia-branded carriers from Capital A as part of a corporate restructuring at both companies.
