Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) conducted its annual exercise over the weekend to test the facility’s preparedness for the typhoon season, which included its soon-to-open Terminal 2 for the first time. The exercise involved 700 people from 30 organisations. "The ‘summer blow’ exercise is critical to ensuring our preparedness for the typhoon season," Airport Authority Hong Kong executive director for airport operations, Steven Yiu, said. "I am pleased that the exercise was carried out smoothly and successfully, demonstrating HKIA’s ability to handle extreme weather, protect passenger safety, and keep airport operations running thanks to the strong collaboration across the airport community."
Close to two-thirds of airports - 64% - are using AI in their cybersecurity measures to detect anomalies earlier and reduce response times, up from 51% in 2024, according to the SITA 2025 Air Transport IT Insights report. "71% of airports now rank cybersecurity as their top overall IT focus area, and 68% name it as the primary driver of infrastructure upgrades," SITA said.
Mainland China-based Spring Airlines has signed an agreement with DerbySoft to distribute its flights on the company’s global data network.
Vietjet and SPDB Financial Leasing have announced an agreement covering finance for 10 C909 aircraft via operating leases.
Still with Vietjet, the LCC and AVIC Cabin Systems have signed a cooperation agreement to work together to develop advanced aircraft interiors.
