Biman Bangladesh Airlines will add a new 787 type and induct the 737 MAX to the fleet as part of a 14-aircraft order it has signed with Boeing. Read More » The order, announced late last week, comprised eight 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737 MAX 8s. It is Biman Bangladesh’s largest-ever order. "The new fuel-efficient, technologically advanced aircraft will modernise Biman’s fleet, sharpen operational performance, and extend its international route network - strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global aviation market," Biman Bangladesh CEO, Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, said. Delivery dates were not disclosed. The airline is an existing Boeing operator with a mix of 737NGs, 777s and 787s in its fleet. The 787-10s were expected to be used on Middle East routes, while the 787-9s were earmarked for services to Europe and North America. The 737 MAX will operate to destinations across the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia. "The 787-10 delivers unmatched efficiency and seamless commonality with Biman’s existing 787s, while the 737-8 is the ideal bridge from their 737 fleet with its versatility, fuel savings and crew commonality," Boeing vice president of commercial sales and marketing for Eurasia, India and South Asia, Paul Righi, said.
