Passengers and crew injured in severe turbulence event of Cathay Pacific flight

Six passengers and four passengers were injured on board a Cathay Pacific A350-900 flying from Brisbane to Hong Kong on Saturday (May 23) when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence. Read More » The aircraft, registration B-LRV, was about two hours from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) when it suddenly dropped altitude, causing galley carts, cabin crew and passengers not wearing seat belts to be thrown into the air, local media reported, citing eyewitness accounts from those on board. The event occurred during a meal service. Doctors who were on the flight assisted cabin crew with helping injured passengers. The flight landed safely at HKIA, with eight people from the flight taken to hospital for further treatment. The airline said it was cooperating with authorities and providing support to passengers and crew.
