Virgin Australia unveils two special livery 737s

Virgin Australia (VA) is commemorating the arrival of its 150th 737 by paying tribute to the airline’s history both inside and outside the aircraft. Read More » The 737 MAX 8, registration VH-8VI and named Lake Centenary, has been painted in an all-red fuselage retro livery which recalls the airline’s early days as Virgin Blue. Inside the cabin, the names of more than 8,000 VA staff appear on the overhead lockers. In addition to being the 150th 737 delivered over VA’s 26-year history, VH-8VI is also the 100th 737 in the airline’s current fleet.
"This aircraft is a celebration of our team. Including their names is our way of recognising how important each and every one of them is to our journey," VA group CEO, Dave Emerson, said.
Separately, the airline has also partnered with Disney and Pixar for a special Toy Story 5 livery on 737-800, registration VH-YFY. VA said it was expected to receive 12 737 MAX 8s and four E190-E2 aircraft this year as part of its fleet renewal program.
