The Taoyuan City Government has fined Taiwan-headquartered China Airlines (CAL) TW$2 million (US$63,800) for violating work health and safety laws. Read More » The airline has indicated it will challenge the decision. "On February 24, 2026, the Labor Bureau of the Taoyuan City Government conducted a labor inspection and determined that our company had assigned flight crew members to work hours exceeding the statutory daily limit of 12 hours, and failed to provide a 30-minute rest period after four consecutive hours of work," CAL said in a regulatory filing. "Our company has always placed great importance on employees’ physical and mental well-being, and its attendance-related policies are implemented in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The company will pursue administrative remedies in accordance with the law and seek revocation of the decision."
