Malaysia Airports earmarks 11 billion ringgit investment on capital works over next half decade

Malaysia Airports has unveiled an investment platform for a program of capital works over the next five years to grow capacity, strengthen operational resilience, improve the passenger experience and upgrade technology alongside a focus on sustainability across its portfolio of airports in Malaysia. Read More » The company said the investment aimed to increase capacity at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to in excess of 100 million passengers a year - in 2025 the airport handled 63 million air travellers. Malaysia Airports was also targeting Penang Airport and Kota Kinabalu Airport terminal capacity growing to 12 million passengers a year, from the current 6.5 million and 9 million, respectively. “Malaysia Airports has allocated approximately 11 billion ringgit (US$3 billion) for CAPEX over five years across the network,” Malaysia Airports managing director Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said. “As airport infrastructure projects become larger and more complex, the industry ecosystem must evolve together with it. Through this platform, we wanted to provide clearer visibility into where the opportunities are heading so that contractors, suppliers, and partners can prepare earlier and scale their capabilities with greater confidence.”
