Air Niugini returning to Tokyo this week after six-year absence

Read More » The twice-weekly service, which will be served with either two-class 767-300ER or 737-800 aircraft, has been scheduled as an afternoon departure from Port Moresby and an overnight flight from Narita. Air Niugini last flew to Japan in 2020. "We are delighted to bring back this vital route, which is a key milestone in our efforts to expand and strengthen our international network, while further positioning Papua New Guinea as an important connecting gateway between Japan, Australia, and the Pacific Island countries," Air Niugini CEO, Alan Milne, said. "Papua New Guinea exporters also stand to benefit from the direct flights with faster to market cargo shipments of coffee, vanilla beans, seafood and other products expected." There are currently no airlines flying nonstop between Japan and Papua New Guinea.
