Sun PhuQuoc Airways to add eight Airbus A330 aircraft to its fleet by the end of April next year

Vietnam-based Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) plans to add eight A330 widebody aircraft, with four joining its fleet in 2026 and another four during the first four months of 2027. Read More » The first two A330s are expected to arrive in September 2026 and will support services to South Korea as well as planned expansion into Russia and Kazakhstan. A third aircraft is scheduled for October and a fourth in December. The remaining four aircraft will arrive progressively in early 2027, supporting planned services to Japan and Australia and potential future routes to the Czech Republic and Poland. According to Planespotters.net, the eight A330-200s were previously used by American Airlines. The aircraft were put into storage during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Later, the US carrier decided to retire the stored A330-200 aircraft fleet. “Investing in the Airbus A330 wide-body fleet is a strategic move in the airline’s development journey. Our objective extends beyond network expansion. We are equally committed to enhancing the passenger experience on longer routes, with products and services that are meticulously developed from the outset. This also serves as the foundation for SPA to steadily refine its service quality in line with international five-star standards,” Nguyen Manh Quan, SPA CEO, told local media. From 2031, the SPA expects to begin taking delivery of 40 owned 787-9s, providing capacity for further intercontinental expansion.
