Thai AirAsia parent falls to interim loss

Asia Aviation Public Company Limited (AAV), the parent of Thai AirAsia (TAA) reported a net loss of 1.5 billion baht (US$45 million) for the six months to June 30 2026, representing a 3 billion baht turnaround from net profit of 1.6 billion baht in the same six months in 2025. Read More » Revenue fell 2% to 24.4 billion baht, AAV said in a regulatory filing. The loss for the three months to June 30 was 2.3 billion baht, compared with net profit of 214.2 million baht in the June quarter last year. The LCC said it cut excess capacity and reduced costs in the business to protect margins and raise ticket yields in response to soaring fuel prices following the Israel and U.S.-led war against Iran. "Looking ahead to 2H2026, TAA is set to rebound as fuel prices stabilise from their peak levels," AAV and TAA CEO, Phairat Pornpathananangoon, said. "The airline will keep tight capacity control through Q3 before ramping up operating fleet deployment to 52 aircraft in Q4 to capture peak year-end holiday demand." Phairat said the LCC was on track to reopen suspended international routes, while strengthening flight frequencies across its Bangkok Don-Mueang and Suvarnabhumi hubs. TAA had an average of 46 operating aircraft in the three months to June 30.
