Malaysia Airlines pilots all return negative results from drug tests

Read More » The airline group is continuing with its recently introduced mandatory drug screening, with pilots and cabin crew at its regional wing Firefly currently undergoing testing. The company is expected to start testing Malaysia Airlines cabin crew today (August 18). "The completion of this first phase is an important milestone in the measures we committed to implementing, but work does not stop here," MAG CEO, Captain Nasaruddin Bakar, said. "We are moving ahead with screening across other operational groups to ensure the same rigorous standards are applied consistently across our airlines. Safety remains at the core of every decision we make, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to strengthen our safeguards, uphold operational standards and maintain the confidence of our passengers and stakeholders." The mandatory drug screening is in addition to MAG’s continuous drug testing program. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has set a deadline of September 5 for all tests of pilots and cabin crew to be completed.
